I like how you made it look a bit like a capybara

I tried to combine the two animals. This was a questionable one but I like it none the less.

I understand that Pestillus is for Poison type and it was shared with Foongus and Amoongus, but no mention of their second type?

... I thought I added the grass typing but that is an oversight! You sir win the day and I will fix that ASAP! :)

I reply to these so out of order. So Pestillus is for pure Poison, I look forward to seeing your nomenclature for Poison/Grass.

Yeah. I'm thinking... Chloropestillus or Pestiluschloro

I'd vouch for Chloropestillus if it makes any difference.

Wow, scary Nidoran! They're some of my favorite Pokemon but man this one was ruthless. Very nice drawing, but did you know that the animal behind Nidoran's inspiration probably wasn't a rabbit? According to this page, at least:

I love this blog, it has a lot of obscure animals, you might like it.

Yeah. When I was designing the page, I had a few different animals I worked with. One being the Capybara. I wanted to try and mix something a little more "known" and thus worked with the hare. I'm thinking of changing the teeth but, I like the mix between the two.

Great read though, that is a cool blog!

Ive actually been setting up a cool scene where I think Slaking and Nidoking clash. I've just been debating eternally if it should happen. I don't want it to be too... King Kong-ish.

And then it evolved into Nidorino, found a Moon Stone, and soon became Nidoking.
That's when shit got real son.

But yeah, awesome picture, and your field guide series is awesome! I'd love to see your interpretations on Pokemon such as Drifblim, Bisharp, and Tangrowth, mainly to see how they would look realistically.

Tangrowth might be coming soon. My current concept in development and this is the first time Ive mentioned this. Is Slakig.

Sweet, a Slaking. Even though Slaking has gorilla-like features, it is still a sloth (a rather big one at that) and I hope that you keep that in mind (which sadly it seems like not too many people do). So good luck with that one!

This looks a lot like a cross between a porcupine, a mara [link] and a rabbit. Nice work! :D

BTW, then what would Nidoking be like?

You keep saying "book." Is that this guide? Is it going to be an actual tangible book? You may have said some of this in you journals. If so... oops.

I'm writing a book. The guide is the journal kept by the Professor during his adventures in the book. Kind of like a supplemental.

I love the rabbit concept, but the fur kindof throws me off on this one. I've never pictured any of the Nido-family to be furry, and I don't really think they should be.

Interesting idea though.

Just like the Duck billed platypus? I mean that shouldn't be furry either but it is.

How can you say something that is real should not be as it is? There's hardly any relation between that and what i'm talking about. I'm talking about a fictional interpertation here.
I understand you want to defend your decision, and I already said it's an interesting one but i just don't agree to it. Still love the work you're putting into this nonetheless however.

I imagine the fur to be a stage thing. Eventually fadingor falling off as it evolves. Kind of like a penguin or baby seal-ish.

Now this one left me totally surprised. I never saw Nidoran as a bunny, regardless of what other people told me, and it still just doesn't look right.
Anyway, your artwork is impeccable, as always.

Yeah, I picture poison Pokemon like those that are poisonous in the wild. Snakes are so sly yet bold, poisonous insects are usually slow and uncaring. Bright colored, jerks. LOL as if they are saying, "Yeah I jut did that. Oh and try to stop me from doing it again."
